TODAY'S GOSPEL REFLECTION: "Follow the Trail of Christ"

May 05, 2023. Friday of the Fourth Week of Easter

Gospel

Jn 14:1-6

Jesus said to his disciples:
"Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You have faith in God; have faith also in me.
In my Father's house there are many dwelling places.
If there were not,
would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come back again and take you to myself,
so that where I am you also may be.
Where I am going you know the way."
Thomas said to him,
"Master, we do not know where you are going;
how can we know the way?"
Jesus said to him, "I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me."

Reflection

Let us follow the path that Christ walked on. Blessed Friday of the Fourth Week of Easter. Whenever we have to travel to unfamiliar places we might encounter unfamiliar roads that might confuse us. We might also encounter unfamiliar faces who will point us to directions familiar to them but not might be the right path to take. This is the same with real-life decisions, we can get confused from hearing different suggestions from people and the things we read and watch. It is hard to depend on ever-changing information but we know that God stays the same. This fact alone gives us the assurance that we can lean on God no matter what is our situation. That's why today's message centers around what Jesus Christ told His apostles, "I am the way and the truth and the life," this is God's invitation for us to follow His trail and cross paths with the people He met as Christ walked on earth. Who are these people that Jesus met during His earthly ministry? He met those in poverty, the hungry, the disabled, the possessed, the widows, the bleeding woman, the dead, and their mourners. God's mercy was experienced through these people Jesus was able to administer. Therefore we are called to meet the same people in our everyday lives. Through our culture of mercy towards others, we were able to share the experience of God's love with others. We are called to love those people we find hard to love. Let us walk the same path Christ walked on Earth.

May we cross paths with the same people Christ has shown mercy. Let us take every opportunity to share the love and mercy of God.
