THE MYSTERY OF GOD: 05/26/24 (The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity)

Gospel

Mt 28:16-20

The eleven disciples went to Galilee,

to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them.

When they all saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.

Then Jesus approached and said to them,

"All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father,

and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."

Reflection:

The dogma of the Holy Trinity declares that our God is one, yet there are three distinct Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father is not the Son, but they, along with the Holy Spirit, are one. In attempting to explain this greatest and most important mystery of our faith, many analogies have been used, but it remains difficult to understand. Because of this, only two things are important. First, we must accept that this cannot be fully grasped by our minds. Second, because no one, no matter how intelligent they are, can fully understand it, it requires faith, and what is more important is that we believe.

What is important to understand in this beautiful truth? They are also a community that is full of love. Distinct yet one. We are the same when we love one another. Those who bring peace to one another become one. We can also be a reflection of the Most Holy Trinity. The same is true for every family. This is why it should not be destroyed through divorce, which would make all of the marriage contracts dissoluble or easily broken. It will no longer be a covenant, but an ordinary contract that can be revoked by a person whenever he or she wants. This goes against the design and commandment of God to protect the marriage that is the foundation of every family, where each family is a reflection the Holy Trinity.

The love that is in our one God and three Persons is offered and given to us unconditionally, even though we are sinners. In the same way, we can love others despite their weaknesses, just as the Holy Trinity does for us. The Holy Trinity is present where there is understanding despite weaknesses, forgiveness despite hurts, and giving amidst difficulties. What we truly need to understand is not how God is God, as this cannot be comprehended by the human mind. It is enough to know how He loves and to do the same so that we may become like Him and that He may dwell in us, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

May we believe and continuously ponder on this. Amen.

May our Loving and Almighty God bless us, and may He defend us against temptations and evil now and forever. Amen.
