WHY YOU SHOULD GO TO MASS

It's good to set a definite time to talk to God everyday, but it doesn't mean that attending Holy Mass is no longer important. Jesus Christ clearly said, “Not every one who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven (Matthew 7:21). "

It is the will of our Lord that we go to Mass every Sunday and on holy days of obligation. It is a mortal sin not to do so.  When Jesus instituted the Holy Eucharist, He said, “This is My body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me (Luke 22:19).” By going to Mass every Sunday and on other days of obligation, we remember the sacrifice of Jesus. Through the prayers of the priest, the Holy Spirit comes down upon the gifts and the bread and wine becomes the Body and Blood of Jesus.

Even in the life of the apostles, they were not only spreading the Gospel, but they were also together in the Mass.  "And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of Bread and the prayers (Acts 2:42)."  This is pertaining to the Holy Eucharist, to Jesus who said, "I am the Bread of life...(John 6:35)." It is pleasing to Jesus Christ that we communicate with Him through prayer, but He also desires for us to receive His Most Precious Body and Blood in the Holy Mass.

Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the Flesh of the Son of Man and drink His Blood, you have no life in you; he who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day (John 6:53-54)."

Because of this, the Holy Mass is the highest form of prayer which cannot be done in any house, even if that may be a mansion. May we live out our faith by the teachings of Jesus.  Attending and participating actively in the Holy Mass is proof that we know and love our God and Savior not just in words but in deeds through obedience. Amen. +
