TODAY'S GOSPEL REFLECTION: "God's Grace Beyond Trials"

June 10, 2023. Saturday of the Ninth Week in Ordinary Time

Gospel

Mk 12:38-44
In the course of his teaching Jesus said,
"Beware of the scribes, who like to go around in long robes
and accept greetings in the marketplaces,
seats of honor in synagogues,
and places of honor at banquets.
They devour the houses of widows and, as a pretext,
recite lengthy prayers.
They will receive a very severe condemnation."

He sat down opposite the treasury
and observed how the crowd put money into the treasury.
Many rich people put in large sums.
A poor widow also came and put in two small coins worth a few cents.
Calling his disciples to himself, he said to them,
"Amen, I say to you, this poor widow put in more
than all the other contributors to the treasury.
For they have all contributed from their surplus wealth,
but she, from her poverty, has contributed all she had,
her whole livelihood."

Reflection
There is grace in the midst of adversity. Blessed Saturday of the Ninth Week in Ordinary Time. Have we ever been stuck at some point in our life? Being stuck is like looking through a small hole where we can see only a limited view of our surroundings. This is what happens when we lose hope, it interferes with having a wide scope of clarity of thought. So this is the message of the Gospel today, to keep hoping for opportunities to come even when nothing seems to be happening. Let us imagine ourselves walking in the dark. We may not see whether there would be light at the end of it. But, if we follow the soft voice of our Good Shepherd we will eventually discover our good fate. The Lord sees the upcoming graces in our lives because He prepared them for us.

Let's call on the guidance of Saint Raphael Archangel to take us on the right path in terms of our dealing with business, friendships, and even our health and well-being. As he guided the father and son, Tobit and Tobias, to solve their problems that seemed impossible like Tobit's blindness. And choosing the right wife for Tobias. This is how we should be, patiently waiting for what God has in store for us.

May we trust that God has prepared a reward for our obedience to Him. At the end of the sacrifice there is definitely grace if it is reached with patience. In the Name of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen+
