TODAY'S GOSPEL REFLECTION: "God's Body and Blood"
TODAY'S GOSPEL REFLECTION: "God's Body and Blood"
June 18, 2023. Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
Gospel
Jn 6:51-58
Jesus said to the Jewish crowds:
"I am the living bread that came down from heaven;
whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give
is my flesh for the life of the world."
The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying,
"How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"
Jesus said to them
"Amen, amen, I say to you,
unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood,
you do not have life within you.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
has eternal life,
and I will raise him on the last day.
For my flesh is true food,
and my blood is true drink.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
remains in me and I in him.
Just as the living Father sent me
and I have life because of the Father,
so also the one who feeds on me
will have life because of me.
This is the bread that came down from heaven.
Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died,
whoever eats this bread will live forever."
Reflection
Blessed Sunday on the Holy Feast of the Body and Blood of Lord Jesus Christ. The celebration on this day restores the history of Christ's offering of His Holy Body and Blood for the forgiveness of the world. The universal forgiveness brought by the sacrifice at the Cross gave us the opportunity to engage in holiness. Therefore giving us the freedom to serve now, like reading this short reflection every day. Let us remember the goodness of God in this grace.
Remember that we are like a bunch of grapes. Grapes when squeezed together become one in form of wine. Bad quality grapes are avoided because the taste can deteriorate. So let's be sweet by living according to the teachings of Christ. Through this, we contribute our sweet efforts for the Kingdom of God.
May we be able to reflect on our being part of the same Body of Christ. We belong to the Church called to remain united in God's mercy and love. In the Name of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen+
