TODAY'S GOSPEL REFLECTION: "The Provider of All"
May 11, 2023. Thursday of the Fifth Week of Easter
Gospel
Jn 15:9-11
Jesus said to his disciples:
"As the Father loves me, so I also love you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father's commandments
and remain in his love.
"I have told you this so that
my joy might be in you and
your joy might be complete."
Reflection
Let us praise God, The Provider of All. Blessed Thursday of the Fifth Week of Easter. What is our first reaction upon hearing good news? We might respond with glee, we might jump for joy, and maybe we Praise God for His goodness. But how do we react when we hear bad news? We might instantly respond with sadness, we might get mad from not understanding how a bad thing could happen to us, and we might question God. Today's Gospel calls us to reflect on how is the state of our confidence in God. The reality of living in this imperfect world is that suffering has become part of the existence of humanity. We live in this world that offers temporary pleasures, which can be easily replaced by sadness. Despite this, we can still find the joy that can dwell in our hearts. Because the good news is pain is also temporary in this world and lasting peace can be attained if we center our life on God. Grief can never disturb the peace coming from God. We know that God is the provider of everything that we have. As we go along this journey of life and as we continuously reflect on the power of God, we start to realize that our worries and pains are simply distractions. We must develop our confidence in God because it is written that God wants to share the treasure of genuine happiness with every sinner. It is true that the human form of Christ is not with us, but He left the Holy Spirit to guide us. The Holy Spirit knows the right path where we can find true peace. It is time to go back to mass. Do not be distracted by the imperfections of the world and the defects of those around us. Let us constantly go back to God.
May we have the courage to be more confident in God. Our provider knows what we need even before we ask Him. Those who trust know they will be blessed. In the Name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen+
