TODAY'S GOSPEL REFLECTION: "God's Mission For Us"

May 22, 2023. Monday of the Seventh Week of Easter

Gospel

Jn 16:29-33
The disciples said to Jesus,
"Now you are talking plainly, and not in any figure of speech.
Now we realize that you know everything
and that you do not need to have anyone question you.
Because of this we believe that you came from God."
Jesus answered them, "Do you believe now?
Behold, the hour is coming and has arrived
when each of you will be scattered to his own home
and you will leave me alone.
But I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
I have told you this so that you might have peace in me.
In the world you will have trouble,
but take courage, I have conquered the world."

Reflection
Praise our God who has overcome the world. Monday of the Seventh Week of Easter. This past Sunday we commemorated the departure of our Lord Jesus Christ to ascend to God the Father. Jesus promised that even though He is gone, the Holy Spirit will come to be our companion. But, today the Gospel mentioned Christ's anticipation for us to go and walk towards our own journey. We can compare this statement to students who have completed their studies and are leaving their school to take a new path of opportunity. Students strive to graduate from school not because they have no care for their teachers, but because they gave importance to what is taught to them that they have to go out and apply in real life the things they learned. The student needs to graduate so that the world can start testing him and with that, the student can use his learnings to become a much-accomplished person. That is why Christ calls us to leave comfort, in order to let us find the mission reserved for us to serve God through those people in need. Let's face the challenges of life as we continue loving our faithful God.

May we find the mission according to our abilities and talents. Remember that we don't have to do extraordinary to be holy. Every little task done well can be a step forward sanctity. In the Name of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen+
