TODAY'S GOSPEL REFLECTION: "Be Guided By The Holy Paraclete"

May 06, 2023. Friday of the Fourth Week of Easter

Gospel

Jn 14:7-14

Jesus said to his disciples:
"If you know me, then you will also know my Father.
From now on you do know him and have seen him."
Philip said to Jesus,
"Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us."
Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you for so long a time
and you still do not know me, Philip?
Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.
How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?
The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own.
The Father who dwells in me is doing his works.
Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,
or else, believe because of the works themselves.
Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever believes in me will do the works that I do,
and will do greater ones than these,
because I am going to the Father.
And whatever you ask in my name, I will do,
so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it."

Reflection
The unseen God is in our company. Blessed Saturday of the Fourth Week of Easter. Although Christ's manhood is physically not with us, He left us with the Holy Spirit. He made that promise to the apostles even before His ascension to Heaven. Therefore, we can say that the Old Testament is the era of God the Father, whilst the New Testament is the era of God the Son, and our present time is the current era governed by the Holy Spirit. We are living in this time wherein we have the opportunity to open ourselves and embrace the fire coming from the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit, we are guided to receive bit by bit the clarity that we need to attend our mission. The fire of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, is the fruit of the love of God the Father and the Son for the world. God is aware that sin made His creation weak in the flesh which caused us from struggling against sin. That's why we are given the era of the Holy Spirit in order for us to realize that we must open ourselves to receive the guidance we need to decisions in life. Because, oftentimes, we know the mission we are called to do, however, our weak is flesh, and the distractions are constant. Therefore, in times when we are hindered to follow the trail of Christ, let us remember to invite the Holy Spirit into our lives.

May we have the will to open our lives for the Holy Spirit to enter. Let's reflect on the story in the Holy Scriptures when the apostles received the fire of the Holy Spirit that caused them to speak in different languages. In the Name of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen+
