Blessed Tuesday! Was Jesus dismissing His own Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary? Some people may misinterpret and misread this passage by saying that Mary is not important. The truth is that Jesus elevated our Mother, and we can reflect upon it on how we can follow the will of God more. As our Lord tells us, those who do the will of God are His brother, sister and His mother. Becoming the natural mother of Jesus is truly a blessing. But, what's more important in God's eyes is Mary as His greatest disciple. The Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother, always followed God's will throughout her whole life. This is why she's full of grace (Luke 1:28). She always says "yes" to God, most specially when she accepted the mission of becoming the Mother of our Savior.
Because Jesus is our brother, this means that the Blessed Virgin Mary is our spiritual mother. That's how merciful our Lord is. He is not ashamed to call us, His disciples and followers, as His brothers and sisters. But, this means that we are called by our Savior to follow His will and His desires. Unlike our Mother Mary, we are not pure. We are full of weaknesses and brokenness. We may always commit sins everyday, and it's truly difficult to follow God's will. There are many temptations around us. Many are struggling with different sins such as pride, anger, lust and others. Let's remember that there is always hope. Our Lord Jesus chose Mary to be His Mother and our Mother because of His love for us.
Little children are always dependent on their mother. In the same way, if we want to be a little child, a humble disciple of Christ, it's pleasing to Him for us to be dependent on our Mother Mary. May we give ourselves totally to her, and she will form us to be like Christ. She always do the will of God, and part of God's will is our salvation and eternal life. In order for us to truly accept our identity as children of God, we should accept Mary in our lives because she is our Mother. Are we struggling with sins? Are we troubled by many temptations around us? Do some of us struggle in the virtue of chastity? Let's always beg God for graces and let's also pray to our Mother Mary. She will always intercede for us, and we become more open to her Maternal care, especially as we pray the rosary. Through her powerful intercession, God will make us humble of heart as we serve our Lord.
Amen +
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, be with us always until the hour of our death. Amen. +
May the Lord + bless us, protect us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. +
