Today we saw Jesus called the four - Peter and Andrew and James and John. Both pairs were brothers. Andrew is the brother of St. Peter, whose feast we celebrate today. He was the one who brought Peter to Jesus to know Him. Together they were on one mission with Jesus until their deaths as martyrs. Who are these people whom Jesus called anyway? They were simply fishers, but Jesus told them that they will soon be fishers of men – that is to preach the Good News of the Lord. They were not men who were held in high esteem back in the days for those were reserved to the religious leaders or those in authority. But they were great in the eyes of God because of their great faith in Him.

At once, they left everything and gave themselves to Jesus whom they believe as the Christ or the Messiah – the One whom they were waiting for and the One who was promised that will come to save them. Have we ever met Jesus in our lives? Or until now, are we still seeking the glory of the world? Still, no one compares to the recognition of Christ and our acceptance of the love He gives us. This recognition of God and our acceptance of His love fills all the void within us, we become complete that we will not look for anything and anyone anymore once we experience this true meeting of Christ. It is because we could find everything in Him. This is what the apostles found - that it is all worth it that they left everything for God.

Now they sit with Jesus in His Kingdom until the world ends and a new heaven and earth comes. The reign of the apostles with Christ too will never end. Unlike the royalty of the earth which passes, theirs will not pass for it is eternal. If we desire this eternal crown of glory, we too must be prepared to suffer for Christ. We must live for Christ and until death we shall be for Christ and with Christ. Until we unite with Him forever in eternity. Amen. +

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, be with us always until the hour of our death. Amen. +
God bless us and may He help us always to conform to His will. Amen. +
