In the first reading, we saw that Daniel was terrified as he saw in his visions the fourth beast. One way of understanding it is that it refers to people who always blaspheme against God and wage war against His saints. This is what the devil wanted, to deceive many souls by committing sins that offend our Lord while persecuting and scandalizing those whom He called. In our lives, we may be terrified when we witness the terrors around us, the horrible sins others commit, and that may also include our own sins. And yet, we should not fall to despair. We should always trust God, for His justice will always triumph and His Kingdom will always reign.
The gospel has given us a warning of our tendencies to live a sinful and worldly lifestyle. Because of the trials and challenges we experience, we may dwell on our anxieties and find solutions in worldly satisfactions and attachments. But, these cannot solve our problems, and we end up forgetting that our purpose in life is to glorify Him which leads to our salvation. Jesus is inviting us to always be vigilant. People who examine their conscience will always be prepared for His coming either at the end of their lives or the end of times.
Let us always have hope in Him that He will share His Heavenly Kingdom with us where we can reign with Him forever. We can have strength to endure when we pray. Let us seek forgiveness from Him and ask for the grace of perseverance through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Amen. +
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, be with us always until the hour of our death. Amen. +
God bless us and may He help us always to conform to His will. Amen. +
